Noni Kits and Patterns

Noni Bag Patterns are hand knit and felted of 100% wool and look amazing! Click on bags below for pictures, details and all the supplies. These purses and bags are upscale, classy bags with hardware of extreme quality. We now carry the kits for these felted purses, as well as the leather handles. Cascade 220 is our suggested 100%, feltable wool, that is available in over 350 shades.

Noni Bags felted patterns. Felting covers the uneven knitting of new knitters. It is for this reason that Nora's Noni Bags Patterns felted projects are a great introduction to knitting. It may look complicated, but do not let it intimidate you. These knit projects are perfect confidence builders.

Angelika recommends Cascade 220 Wool Yarn. Angelika stocks all 350 shades of this yarn. Do not use yarns that are super wash wools, cottons, rayons or silks, and do not use any synthetics. These yarns have been coated to be washable without shrinking. Some bleached white wool yarns do not felt and some off white and lighter colors do not felt well. Unless they say unbleached on them. It is always best to knit up and test a small piece.

Sunset Over Chaco Canyon

Noni Pattern No. 223

To get to Chaco Canyon in Chaco Culture National Historical Park, New Mexico, you turn off the highway only to drive many miles over a stony, rutted road. The serious make the uncomfortable trip and are rewarded with stunning red, sun-drenched landscapes. The sky is immense, the sun unrelenting, the red dust omnipresent. Cactus flowers seem miraculous in this landscape, dazzling in yellow, peach, fuchsia. Unexpected.
Decorate yourself with these startling desert jewels. Perfect for embellishing sandals, the strap of a sundress, the lapel of your summer jacket, the neck of that bottle of Chardonnay given as a gift. Make them in hand-dyed silk, or fine merino, embellish with sparkle rivets for a dazzling accent. Or wear it all alone as a stunning ring.

Materials: Size 6 (4mm) double-pointed needles (3) for flowers or needle size needed to knit flowers densely to achieve gauge. Each flower requires approximately 16 yds (14.5m) of worsted weight yarn. If felting, use a feltable yarn. Angelika recommends Cascade 220 Wool Yarn.
7mm and 10mm Noni Sparkle Rivets in red, pink, green, blue, purple, clear, or black according to preference to decorate flower centers. Lock-stitch markers used as stitch holders. Sharp, large-eyed darning needle & 28-gauge beading wire.

1 pair of Noni shoe clips to attach flowers to shoes, bags, necklines, and gifts.

Roxy's Favorite

Noni Pattern No. 224

Never did a man's fedora seem so feminine but when Roxy clipped her favorite flower to the hat band. She would wear it tucked behind her ear in shades that matched her lipstick, clipped to the lapel of her mannish coat, inspiring the neckline of her dress, or decorating her patent leather high heels. If she had worn flip flops. . . There would have been a single one in the center of each.
Inspired by by the costumes and characters in Chicago and a man's carnation boutonniere, Roxy's favorite is a flower that dresses up the plainest frock, bag, or cloche . . . and makes you look twice. Just like Roxy herself.

Size 6 (4mm) double-pointed needles (set of 4) for flowers or needle size needed to knit the flowers densely to achieve gauge. Noni sparkle rivets in black to decorate the flower centers. Each flower requires approximately 16 yds (14.5m) of worsted weight yarn in deep wine or colors according to your desire. If felting, use a feltable yarn. Angelika recommends Cascade 220 Wool Yarn. Lock-stitch markers used as stitch holders in 2 different colors.

1 pair of Noni shoe clips to clip flowers to shoes, bags, necklines, gifts.

Yoga Bag & Everything Tote (No. 144 )

Yoga practitioners will love the simplicity and functionality of this felted Yoga Mat Tote. A simple tie closure keeps it shut and the beautiful JUL rolled leather handle (make an I-cord handle if you like) makes it comfortable on the shoulder. For those archers among us, it was pointed out to me that this might also make a great quiver!
The pattern also includes instructions for two sizes of Everything totes. These totes have nice wide bases so you can pack a lot into them. Fold in the corners for a decidedly vintage travel bag, or fill it to the top. A zipper closure keeps your things from spilling out all over the tarmac.

Use any combination of colors of feltable wool yarn such as Cascade 220.

Not Just a Baby Bag (No. 133)

Use any combination of colors of feltable wool yarn such as Cascade 220.

Nora has been asked many times to design a baby bag. Here, at long last is everything Nora would want herself in a baby bag: a large bag that is so great-looking and practical that any woman would want to carry it. Here's what she loves about this bag: the colorful options (stripes, solid, or bi-color), roomy exterior pockets, customizable shoulder strap, a fold-over flap, and an optional zip closure. Also included: a cosmetic bag and a baby changing pad.

Materials:
Solid Baby Bag 1400 yds. Place Anywhere Pocket 200 yds. Accessory Bag 200 yds. Changing Pad 425 yds.
Bi-color Bag, with 2 pockets, Accessory Bag and Changing Pad 2100yds of main color, and 1050 yds of contrast color.

Orange Kitty Hoodie Towel/Blanket in 2 Sizes with Kitty Jammie Bag (No. 505)

We have a kitty named "Orange". He was wild in the beginning and I put food out for him until he was injured. Then I took him in and he's been mine ever since. He is my little boy's sometime playmate (we make toys out of paper and yarn from my studio) and is still devotedly loving. In these towel/blankets, I sought to capture my Orange kitty's happy attitude and good nature, as well as loving softness. Unlike many hoodie towels out there, these are square, so they envelope your little sweetie (little legs too). Two sizes allow you to wrap up infants and later toddlers after bath time. For a wonderfully cozy stroller or Basinette blanket, make the hoodie towel in a soft baby alpaca boucle or other delicious yarn. Just imagine your sleeping babe wrapped up in what you've made.

Included in this pattern are instructions for a cotton towel with kitty paws and kitty hood. Kitty face and paws make this towel extra fun for bath time and play time. The kitty jammie bag keeps rooms tidy and PJs can always be found in the same familiar face/place.

Materials: Small 730 yds of worsted weight (or 370 yds each of 2 colors). Large 1210 yds of worsted weight or (605 yds each of 2 colors). Kitty Jammie Bag 240 yds. Angelika suggests a cotton or cotton blend yarn such as Cascades Sierra. Needles used are US#9 24 or 32" circular needles, and a set of double points, stitch markers, stitch holders and tapestry needle.

Gauge is 4 sts per inch.

Approximate finished dimensions-Excluding hood: Small 27" square. Large 36" square.

Dancing Princesses Coat (No. 1104) A top-down knitted coat & leg warmers with apple blossoms

These little coats & leg warmers (in straight and flared styles) are fashioned after the romantic little coats that the 12 Dancing Princesses most certainly would have slipped on over the silks chiffon dresses and brocades they wore each night to dance with the 12 Princes. . . if the underground passages they trod held a chill.

Make in a solid color or in colors that dazzle: the color work is simple - perfect for a first project. Fancy enough to leave unembellished, but also the perfect canvas for the apple blossom flowers included in the pattern. The perfect coat for your little dancer!

#212 A Bouquet of Shirley Poppies

Shirley Poppies (Papaver rhoeas) are flowers that are as tenacious as they are delicate. They will start to grow in winter, even as there is snow or frost still on the ground. When the weather warms, the poppy plants begin to grow quickly and by late may they are covered with blooms: white with red tips, red with pink centers, pink with yellow centers. . . the combinations are many and all of them are beautiful. Their petals are soft as silk and more delicate than the finest gauzy tissue cottons. They withstand so much yet hate to be picked, wilting quickly.

This pattern allows the intrepid knitter to bring the beauty of the Shirley Poppy inside to stay. Nora has replicated, in this pattern some of her favorite poppy color combinations as well as their buds and seed pods to that you might make a bouquet that is as wild and wonderful as the poppies in the garden.

#406 Grassy Hill, Spiney Beast, & Just Plain Color: 3 Whimsical Backpacks for Grownups & Kids

Order pattern and its supplies here.

For kids or the kid in you, these whimsical backpacks let you keep it plain and simple or go crazy with I-cords. Spiney Beast lets you become a bright blue monster with fantastical spines down your back. Grassy Hill covers you with grass and flowers. When you are feeling ferocious and prickly or when lying in the grass would best hit the spot, put on one of these whimsical backpacks and indulge the beast or the blossom in you.
These bags are knit in one piece with flap embellishments and I-cord closures and strap tabs added before felting. Curved straps that fit the shape of your body are knit separately and attached after felting using purchased hardware. Directions for adjusting the strap length are included.

The bag body and handle tabs of Cypress Knees are knit in one piece. I-cord "knees" are added before felting, with chain stitch embroidery added after felting.

#501 Round Pegs in a Square: An Accent Pillow in 3 Styles & 2 Colorways

Order pattern and its supplies here.

Liven up your home or office with these felted pillows in two colorways and three possible modes of construction. The bold design of four circles clustered in the center of a square lends a contemporary feel to your space-whether they are on a couch, the floor, in a chair, or outside on garden furniture as they are pictured here.
Knit the two colorways in one pillow rather than two, creating an exciting reversible design by working the Two-Faced Pillow. This pillow is knit in one long piece, the sides stitched up with a tapestry needle before felting. The only finishing after felting is the addition of a zipper and the insertion of a pillow form and you are ready to enjoy a new look to your space.
Single-Faced Pillow is for knitters who also like to sew. This version has a fabric back as only the front is knit. The pillow is stitched together, and a zipper added, by hand or machine after the front is felted.
The Single Faced-Pillow with Felted Back is knit all in one piece leaving an opening for the zipper. This elegant construction requires the least finishing of the three options and is the one pictured on the pattern.

Noni Sprgin Basket Bag

#116 Spring Basket Evening Bags

Order pattern and its supplies here.

If you loved the shape of the Harlequin bag, you will love this bag as well. The custom Noni handle (hardware included so you can just clip them to the top of your bag and go right out the door!) adds a touch of whimsy to the formality of the bag, making this a perfect choice for all of your evening outings.

Pattern Difficulty Level: Intermediate. Requires knowledge of knitting in the round, knitting on circular and double-pointed needles, and short rows. Finishing is somewhat rigorous, requiring the use of a stiffener to give the bag shape and a zipper closure.
