#115 Hydrangea Bags

Like the hydrangeas we find in the garden, these bags are covered with a profusion of four-petal flowers. One of the things that make hydrangeas so beautiful is the way their petals change color as they are touched by the sun: a pale creamy petal turns pale blue and then dark blue as the days go by. I sought, with each of the four colorways found in this pattern, to represent the variation in petal color and size we find in our gardens.

Pattern Difficulty Level: Intrepid beginner to intermediate to advanced. Requires knowledge of knitting and purling, picking up stitches, and knitting in the round on both circular and double-points.

The Pig Bag is constructed by using 2 strands of yarn.

Materials for the 4 colorways:

Blues: 2 hanks of Cascade 220 #8905 (robin's egg), and 1 hank each of #8908 (anis), 7815 (summer sky), 7816 (bluebell) & #8906 (azur). Bag shown uses the custom blue bamoo handle.

Purples: 2 hanks of Cascade 220 #2421 (iris), and 1 hank each of # 9467 (delphinium), 7808 (hyacinth), 8886 (Italian plum) & 5016 (lavender). Bag shown uses the Lilac plastic bamboo. Also available in pink & blue.

Pinks: 2 hanks of Cascade 220 #7801 (rouge red), and 1 hank each of #9469 (hot pink), 9470 (fuchsia), 2423 (monmarte) & 7802 (cerise). Bag shown uses pink plastic bamboo curly. Also available in blue.

Wedding (green & pink): 2 hanks of Cascade 220 #8010 (natural), and 1 hank each of #4192 (soft pink), 9477 (tutu), 9460 (dune) & 9470 (celery). Bag shown uses bamboo handle in natural.

US#11 (8mm) 24" circular needles, double point needles and a tapestry needle. US#7 (4.5mm) straight needles. Nylon beading thread.
