Knitting continues to be a popular past time. This fall the popularity of novelty yarns is returning. The economy has not been kind to us, and the personality of novelty yarns takes us away from the daily grind. Below are 3 novelty yarns that have been quite popular this fall. So much so that my stock is low already! Machine knitting is also on the rise. That is where my real love lies. In November of 1984, 9 months pregnant, I was under the machine looking at the 3" x 3" square hanging off the needles. I wasn't hooked, it wasn't a passion. I was POSSESSED ! Machine knitting was at an all time high at that point. Since then it went through a slow stage. Today, I get calls daily on what to buy, what they do, how they work. If you are already a hand knitting and are interested in machines, you will want to read Hand & Machine Knitting: the differences and similarities. If you are serious about a machine, but don't know which one, you will want to read Different Yarns for Different Knitting Machines. You don't select a machine based on what you want to knit. Any machine can do hats, sweaters and scarves. You select the machine based on what thickness of yarn you want to use. Like knitting needles and crochet hooks, there is no one tool that knits all sizes of yarns. The best machines available today are the Silver Reed machines. Superior quality from an established machine manufacturer. Let me know if you want to talk more!
