Child's Painter Jacket Dress

an original design by Angelika Burles

A design inspired by those days when children wore Daddy’s white dress shirt backwards to keep their frocks clean while painting. This Jacket is worn with 3 ties on the bodice back, features feather and fan lace at hem, sleeves and necklines, and garter stitch over the shoulders. Skirt back is left open to revealed ruffled diaper covers, another look from the past.

Sizes: 22.5 (24, 25)” finished chest measurement

Materials: LORNA’S LACES Swirls DK (85% Merino wool 15% silk, 2 oz., 150 yards each): 4, 5, 5 skeins.

Needles: size 6 double points and size 6 circular needle or size needed to obtain gauge.

Other Tools: 6 point protectors, 14 stitch markers, 2 stitch holders, 1mm matching K1C2 Rainbow Elastic, 1.75mm crochet hook.

Gauge: 22 sts = 4” in stockinet stitch.

Jaipore Twin Set

This twin set consists of a Cholis, a tight fitting Indian top worn under saris and a rectangular show using the same lace pattern of the Cholis. A rectangular cover-up is called a dupatta or chunni and is used all over northern India.

Finished chest measurements: 34.5, 38.5, 42.75, 46.75 and 50.75. US#6 24" circular and double point needles. US#4 24" circular. Shawl is approx 30" x 72" after blocking.

Materials: Top 7, 7, 8, 9, 11 hanks in Swirl DK (model was done in Aqua). Shawl uses 7 hanks (model was done in Georgetown), 10 10-gram tubes of size 6 silver-lined crystal beads. US #11 straight or circular. Stitch Markers. Tapestry Needle. Size J hook for fringe.

Lorna's Laces Flared Sleeve Pullover

a simple pullover with a boat neck and slightly flared sleeves. Designer, Melissa Leapman, has worked knit and purl rows into a textured horizontal looking rib. Very simple pattern. Very comfortable.

Finished Chest Measurements: 34, 37, 40, 43 and 46.5 inches.

Materials: Swirl DK 8, 9, 9, 10, 10 hanks. US#5 knitting needles.

Gauge: 5.75 sts per inch.

Lorna's Laces Simplest Sweater for Baby

This little cutey is a great project for gift giving. Pattern includes both knit version and crochet version, and is done in one piece.

Sizes: newborn (18" chest measurement) and 6 month (22" chest measurement.

Materials: 2 (3) skeins of Lorna's Laces Swirl DK, 1/2" button or 1/2 yd of 1" ribbon. US#4 straight needles. Or Size G hook for crochet version.

Gauge: Knit gauge is 5.5 sts per inch. Crochet guage is 4.5 single crochets per inch.

Lorna's Laces Cara Cardigan or Vest.

An allover cable and openwork pattern is the focus of this design. The vertical line of the pattern is enhanced by the lengthened lower band, which is worked in 2x2 ribbing. The snug hood repreats the textured theme; front edges and vest armbands are ribbed also. A zipper is used for closures. When knit as a cardigan, stockinette stitch sleeves add further textural interest.

Finished Chest Measurements: 38, 42, 44 inches

Materials: Lorna's Laces Swirl DK 11, 12, 13 balls for Cardigan; 8, 9 10 balls for Vest. (sample is #7ns Cedar). US#5 and 6 needle. Stitch holders. Stitch Markers. Cable Needle. Zipper.

Eliza Top from Lorna's Laces

Bright colors and a cowl collar combine in a jazzy summer blouse. This top ends just below the waist; peek-a-boo holes highlight the lower band. For the more daring, the length can be shortened to tummy baring. Narrow ribbing finishes the armholes and lower edges of the collar and body.

Finished Chest Measurements: 34, 37, 40, 44"

Materials: Swirl DK 4, 4, 5, 6 balls. (Sample used #640 Bittersweet), and 2 balls of contrast color (Sample used #23ns Berry). US#4 (3.5mm) and US#5 (3.75mm) straight and 24& circular needles.

Gauge: 5 sts per inch.

Alexis Shrug from Lorna's Laces

Short and sweet, shrugs are the perfect summer (or year 'round) alternative to a sweater or shawl. Two pieces combine for quick knitting. To give textural interest, an overall openwork pattern is discerningly put to use. The sleeves begin with snug, ribbed cuffs and expand to a slightly bloused look. A narrow band finishes the neckline and lower edges

Sizes are s/m and m/l which are back lenghts of 15 (17) inches and armspan of 52 (56) inches.

Supplies: 6 (7) hanks of Lorna's Laces Swirl DK (sample used color Manzanita). US#% (3.75mm) straight and 29" circular needles. US#6 (4mm) needles. Stitch Holders and Stitch Markers.
