![]() Knitting Pure and Simple's Easy Christmas Stocking
A super easy Christmas stocking is a great way to learn socks, while making a family heirloom. These socks are 6.5" wide and 18" long using a worsted weight yarn that knits to 4.5 sts per inch. The pattern includes 7 different variations, just to encourage your creativity. Gauge: 4.5 sts per inch. Yarn (worsted weight, such as Cascade 220 Superwash or check my yarn standards for other options.: Solid stocking needs 200 yds. 2 color stripes needs 100 yds each of 2 colors. 3 color stripes needs 67 yards each of 3 colors. If you decide to do a contrast color heel and toe, those need about 60 yds. If you like a fur-like cuff, the cuff requires about 50 yards of fur-like yarn. Tools: For worsted weight yarn you will need a 16" circular US#7, US#7 double point needles, stitch markers and safety pin. Just a thought.....if you used a heavier yarn (and needles appropriate to that yarn), your sock will be bigger. |
